How Frequently Should You Clean Your Colon?
The question of how often to perform a colon cleanse activity is answered very differently by different sources. However, one thing is known. The frequency of your colon cleanses will depend on what type of procedures you are having performed or what type of products you are using.
For example, one of the most popular forms of colon cleansing activities is an enema or colonic hydrotherapy. While having these procedures performed is a very good idea because of their ease and their effectiveness, it is not a good idea to perform them too often. When you have an enema done, you release all of the bad stuff from your colon. You release toxins, parasites, dried feces, and bad bacteria. However, at the same time you also release some good stuff like good bacteria necessary for your colon to function properly. Therefore it is suggested that you don’t get enemas done more often that every six months to a year.
Another type of cleanse that you shouldn’t do too often is a laxative colon cleanse. Using laxatives can become a problem for some people. Laxatives force the food we eat to be passed through our systems very quickly and can lead to weight loss. Some people can become addicted to laxative use and this can have very harmful effects on the body. This type of cleaning shouldn’t be done more than once a year.
Oxygen colon cleanses are great, in moderation. Taking pills that cause oxygen to be released in high amounts in our bodies is great for colon health. However, too much exposure to highly concentrated amounts of oxygen can cause problems for the rest of our organs. This type of cleanse should be done once every four months or less.
Colon cleansing diets are great and can offer several health benefits beside colon health. However, they can also leave our bodies needing more protein and shouldn’t be followed for longer than one week at a time, a few times a year.
