Are Colon Cleansing Diets Safe?
One of the most effective and natural ways to clean out your colon is to follow one of many colon cleansing diets out there. Most of the diets last a week to two weeks and are very high in both forms of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Most of them are also very good at causing the colon to naturally flush itself and rid itself of all those nasty things that have clogged it for years. However, are they safe overall? Do these colon cleansing diets provide your body with the nutrients needed to maintain good overall health?
The answer is that some are and some are not. The biggest problem with the diets that are not good for you in the long run are the ones that don’t provide your body with enough protein. Protein is necessary for muscle development, energy, and many other things. A lack of protein can cause many problems to many parts of your body, some being very serious and even life threatening.
Meats are lacking in almost all colon cleaning diets because they are largely responsible for clogging it in the first place. Meats, as most people know, are the main source of protein for most Americans. Good colon flushing diets will call for other foods that are good sources of protein but the bad ones will not. Many of the bad ones fail to take into account that food combinations are what create the protein. For example, beans are a decent source of protein. But eating beans and rice together are an excellent source of it. The good diets know this and call for these combinations.
Use common sense when following one. Make sure that your body is getting an ample amount of protein while you are cleansing your colon. Otherwise, you could find yourself dealing with health issues that are far more serious than an unclean colon.
